Tony Scholes, Chief Football Officer at the Premier League
Tony joined the Premier League in January 2022 as their Chief Football Officer, with responsibility for all Football matters.
Tony was previously at Stoke City FC, as their Chief Executive, having joined them in September 2004. During his tenure he was a pivotal figure in Stoke’s progress, including a 10-year stay in the Premier League.
A former Director of the Football League and member of the FA Council, Tony previously spent six years as the Chief Executive of Preston North End, during which time the team progressed from League 2 to the Championship play off final, before leaving that post in 2002 to set up a sports lottery business. Tony has also served on the Rugby League Council and was a Founding member and trustee of the National Football Museum.
After graduating from Nottingham University, obtaining a degree in industrial economics, he began his career with KPMG, where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant.
