Global Institute of Sport (GIS) and Football Coaches Australia are delighted to be continuing their partnership, which sees the two organisations extend their female-focused scholarship opportunity.
Both institutions are determined to promote the growth of female coaches within Australia’s booming football industry in order to harness the momentum from last year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup and ensure that opportunities are created for the next generation of women in coaching positions.
The scholarship, which is available for GIS’ September 2024 intake, is aimed at any female looking to further their football coaching and/or analysis career in Australia.
Any GIS MSc Football Coaching & Analysis applicants are eligible for the scholarship, which looks to enhance opportunities for the next generation of female sports leaders.
Benefits of the scholarship include:
- 15 per cent tuition fee discount (approx. $3,000 AUD)
- Applied research project on a Football Coaches Australia challenge
- Mentorship with a Football Coaches Australia Executive Committee member
- Free access to a GIS Global Sports Summit
To be eligible for the scholarship, candidates must be an Australia-based MSc Football Coaching & Analysis (distance with attendance) applicant with at least three months of experience in football.
Speaking about the scholarship, Football Coaches Australia CEO Kelly Rourke said: "We're delighted that as part of our ongoing partnership with Global Institute of Sport we are able to provide fantastic opportunities for Australian coaches.
“In particular we have a scholarship opportunity for a female coach to access mentoring from Football Coaches Australia whilst they study the coaching and analysis Master’s degree at a discounted rate.
“We’re also looking to continue to collaborate on education and development opportunities for Australian coaches, such as thought-leadership events and webinars, to build on the excellent event that we co-hosted at the MCG during last year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup.”
