Course overview
The Essentials of Soccer Business & Leadership course is designed to support soccer club leaders who either aspire to or are currently engaged in the day-to-day running of pay-to-play clubs in North America. This bespoke short course, built by and for club leaders and directors, will help those in leadership positions develop their knowledge and understanding of all aspects of their organization’s operations, from media and marketing, through finance and business development, to human resource management. Additionally, it will also help delegates enhance their leadership and management skills.
Modules
This module is focused on you trying to understand yourself in more detail. More specifically, in this module you'll learn about your own personality and consider how it might affect your leadership decision-making.
This module will introduce you to the process of developing a business plan, identifying core values, and embedding them in future planning projects.
This module will introduce you to the way content, social media and communications strategies can help grow the brand and reputation of your soccer organization.
In this module you’ll cover the basics of the balance sheet, income statement and statement of cash flow. You’ll also explore the three phases of the budget planning process, before learning how to develop and build a benchmarking system and how to present your key performance indicators.
This module will introduce you to human resource management, its relationship to leadership and people development, and its importance in soccer organizations. It explores the importance of teamwork and effective communication and aspects of recruitment and management.
Course delivery
Delivered by academics from the Global Institute of Sport and a range of industry experts, this online course is self-paced and will take approximately 15 hours to complete. Upon successful completion of the course, learners will receive a course completion certificate.

Engage with a series of real-world scenarios and activities.
Complete a range of online tasks independently.
Assess your understanding of the subject areas throughout.
Fees
UCFB's Global Institute of Sport is a global business with its base in the UK, so we currently charge for our products in UK sterling (£ GBP) whilst we refine some of our multi-currency setup. We plan to introduce other currencies (starting with $ USD) soon.
Please note, the $ USD course fee when converted into UK sterling (£ GBP) may fluctuate based on the current exchange rate, so this can mean there's some variation in what you are shared.
