Global Institute of Sport, in conjunction with VSI, are delighted to welcome Premier League footballer Asmir Begovic onto our MSc Sports Directorship program.

Begovic, who is Everton FC’s goalkeeper and has previously played for the likes of Chelsea, Stoke City and AC Milan, is set to embark upon the Master’s course this month, with the small task of balancing his studies alongside another campaign in England’s top flight.

Despite still playing at the highest of levels, the 35-year-old is keen to explore other avenues and prepare for life after hanging up his boots, and GIS’ Sports Directorship programme will enable him to develop the personal and commercial attributes needed to become a successful Sporting Director or leading Executive.

Begovic is the latest name added to a star-studded list to have enrolled on the course, including Manchester City’s Joleon Lescott, Leicester City’s Wes Morgan and Olympic Gymnast Beth Tweddle, all of whom are outspoken about pursuing a ‘Second Career’ and how important it is not to neglect this when competing at an elite level.

The MSc Sports Directorship is a two-year, part-time course that qualifies you for one of the most important roles in the industry: that of Sporting Director. It will provide the skills, knowledge and hands-on experience to equip you in a strategic leadership role, and is tailored to meet the real demands of leading sports organisations.

While the MSc Sports Directorship program is not yet available to study in Australia, GIS offer several other Master's degrees in football and sport at our Melbourne Campus.
