The Global Institute of Sport recently attended the United Soccer Coaches Convention, connecting to other football institutions from across the globe.
The 2024 convention, dubbed ‘The world’s largest gathering of soccer coaches’ was held in Anaheim, Los Angeles.
GIS were present as an exhibitor at the five-day convention, showing off our array of football coaching-related postgraduate degree courses available worldwide.
Our reresentatives at the convention were:
- Catherine Garrido – GIS regional director for the Americas
- Connor McGillick – course leader for MSc Performance Analysis in Football
- Danielle Prescott – lecturer for MSc Performance Analysis in Football
- Mike Walsh – GIS Dean
The convention included events such as field sessions, coaches of women breakfast and multiple award ceremonies.
Speaking about the event, Connor McGillick said: “The United Soccer Coaches Convention in Anaheim, Los Angeles was an amazing experience.
“The convention brings the football industry together with visitors from all over the world.
“It was brilliant to network with new faces and catch up with existing partners or contacts, including GIS alumni.
“The ability to attend and present classroom and field sessions at the conference was incredible, allowing industry leading knowledge to be shared.
“For GIS, the convention is a great opportunity to share who we are as an institution, provide information on our courses and present contemporary coaching, analysis and scouting practices.”
Next year’s convention will take place in January 2025 in Chicago, Illinois.
