Last week, GIS hosted an exclusive event at our Wembley and Etihad campuses, to showcase what we have to offer within our coaching and performance Master’s programmes.

The event involved graduates of GIS imparting their wisdom to current UCFB coaching students, sharing how their Master’s degree has contributed to their success in the workplace. From a Technical Recruitment Consultant at Brentford FC to a Performance Analyst at Middlesbrough FC, graduates detailed how the contemporary curriculum acutely reflects the reality of working in coaching and analysis.

Nicholas Pereira, an MSc Performance Analysis student and Performance Analyst at Leyton Orient FC, said: “The event gave me the chance to share my experiences in football as well learn from other alumni about their experiences, and how GIS has been so important in getting them to where they are today. Learning of other people’s experiences and knowledge is something which I can take forward in my work and career.”

Current opportunities on offer to those who engage in our postgraduate programmes were also highlighted throughout the two days, including opportunities to be part of the analysis team at the FIFA World Cup next year, and gaining invaluable scouting experience with professional football clubs, potentially those in the Premier League.

Deputy Dean of Learning and Development at UCFB, and Academy Scout at Manchester United, Danielle Prescott said: “The event last week was a huge success – it was an opportunity to promote our brilliant GIS courses and the expertise we have amongst GIS staff and to share how this expertise allows us to focus on developing relevant professional practice across multiple disciplines for our students.”
