The Global Institute of Sport is proud to be celebrating International Women’s Day 2024, in a very successful year for female involvement in sport and women’s sport as a whole.

We’ve seen more women than ever applying to GIS. Our academic team and wide array of postgraduate courses help them score their dream career goals in the sports industry.

There has been a 43 per cent increase in applications from female students in the last year, and a 24 per cent increase in female enrolments.

This increase can also be seen at UCFB and its undergraduate degrees, which has had a 36 per cent increase in female applications and a 28 per cent increase in female enrolments.

UCFB and GIS has also offered our students the opportunity to listen to some inspirational female guest speakers from across the sports industry, including:

  • Clare Tomlinson – Sky Sports Presenter
  • Kelly Smith MBE – Lionesses Legend
  • Natalie Sawyer – talkSPORT Presenter

On the pitch, we’ve seen the very successful 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, a tournament many GIS students were fortunate enough to visit on the Melbourne Global Sports Summit.

We have also been proud to partner up with many global organisations, promoting female involvement across the global sports industry.

This includes our new partnership with Aula Magna Business School, where together we have launched the ‘The Executive Development Programme for Women in Sport.’

Other organisations we have partnered with to continue this development include Women Sport Australia and Everything in Sport.

GIS has also introduced multiple scholarships to promote female involvement across the sports industry, including the Women in Sport Scholarships.
