The Global Institute of Sport is delighted to have multiple scholarships available for our September 2024 intake of the APAC region (Australia and Pacific).
The scholarships range from promoting diversity to allowing pathways for former sports professionals to pursue an alternative career in the industry.
Many of the scholarships are in partnership with leading sports organisations of the Eastern Hemisphere, partnering with us to promote the growth of the professionalism within the global sports industry.
The scholarships available to applicants within the region include:
- Football Industry Scholarship in partnership with the Association of Australian Football Clubs
This scholarship is for an outstanding applicant to any of GIS’ distance or distance with attendance Master’s degrees that is currently engaged with an AAFC member club as an employee, coach, player or volunteer and has a passion for the development of football in Australia.
The scholarship includes a 15 per cent reduction in tuition fees, an applied research project on an AAFC or AAFC-member club challenge, mentorship with an AAFC or GIS senior leader and free access to a GIS Global Sports Summit.
To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be Australia-based and have accepted an offer on a GIS distance or distance with attendance course, and must be currently engaged with an AAFC member club in some capacity.
- Women inSport Scholarship in partnership with Women Sport Australia
This scholarship is for female GIS applicants committed to improving opportunities for women and girls in Australian sports.
The scholarship includes a 15 per cent tuition discount, industry experience with WSA, applied research on a WSA challenge and mentorship with a WSA industry contact.
A successful applicant will also be able to choose between gaining free access to a GIS Global Sports Summit or professional education short course.
To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be an Australia-based female student with an offer for a GIS distance Master’s course and at least three months experience in sport.
- GIS Women in Football Coaching Scholarshipin partnership with Women Onside
This scholarship is for female MSc Football Coaching & Analysis applicants with an aspiration to further their career in football coaching and/or analysis within Australia, as well as to enhance opportunities for the next generation of female leaders.
The scholarship includes a 15 per cent tuition fee discount, an applied research project on a Women Onside challenge, mentorship with a Women Onside board member and work experience through Women Onside.
A successful applicant will also be able to choose between gaining free access to a GIS Global Sports Summit or professional education short course.
The eligibility criteria includes an Australia-based female student with an offer on GIS’ MSc Football Coaching & Analysis (Distance with Attendance) and at least three months experience in sport.
- Women in Football Coaching Scholarshipin partnership with Football Coaches Australia
This scholarship is for female MSc Football Coaching & Analysis applicants with an aspiration to further their career in football coaching and/or analysis within Australia.
The scholarship includes a 15 per cent tuition fee discount, an applied research project on a Football Coaches Australia challenge and mentorship with a Football Coaches Australia Executive Committee member.
A successful applicant will also be able to choose between gaining free access to a GIS Global Sports Summit or professional education short course.
The eligibility criteria for this scholarship is an Australia-based female student with an offer on GIS’ MSc Football Coaching & Analysis (Distance with Attendance) and at least three months experience in sport.
- GIS Inspirational Women in Sport Scholarshipin partnership with Women in Sport Aotearoa
This scholarship is for female GIS master’s applicants with an aspiration to further their career in sports administration, marketing, media or coaching within New Zealand, as well as to promote opportunities for the next generation of female leaders.
The scholarship includes a 15 per cent tuition fee discount, an applied research project on a Women in Sport Aotearoa challenge, mentorship with a Women in Sport Aotearoa board member and work experience through Women in Sport Aotearoa.
A successful applicant will also be able to choose between gaining free access to a GIS Global Sports Summit or professional education short course.
To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be a New Zealand-based female student holding an offer for one of our Master’s degrees and three months experience in sport.

To apply for one of these scholarships, you must hold an offer to one of our courses, starting in September 2024, and then return to the Learner Portal and apply online.
The deadline for scholarship applications is July 1, 2024 for courses starting in September 2024 (December 1 for courses starting in January 2025).
