Brussels loves sport

GIS students will not only be immersed in one of the most famous European clubs' stadium as part of their studies, but will be living in one of the most vibrant sporting capitals in Europe!

Like many areas across Europe, one of the city’s true loves is sport, and especially football. Brussels is home to multiple top-flight clubs including RSC Anderlecht and Royal Union Saint-Gilloise. Multiple lower league clubs are also dotted across the city, meaning there is no shortage in Brussels for any football fan.

There are many other sports much-loved in Brussels, including cycling, with the city hosting the annual Brussels Cycling Classic, one of the oldest international races, dating back to 1893.

Get to know Brussels

With more than 80 museums, multiple performing arts theatres and being home to the European Union and NATO, Brussels’ culture goes well beyond its love of sport. World-renowned sites such as the Royal Palaces, the Atomium and the UNESCO World Heritage site the Grand-Place give the region its beauty and iconography.

People from across Europe head to Brussels for many of its annual festivals such as the Festival of Europe, Couleur Café Festival and the Belgian National Day Festival. This is in addition to parades and other events, such as the annual heritage days, the Zinneke Parade and the world-famous Flower Carpet.

Global Sports Summits

Every year each of our hubs hosts an annual Global Sports Summit, bringing together students, alumni and leading sports industry professionals in some of the most advanced sports and entertainment venues in the world.

These immersive sports experiences will be based around tailored talks and workshops, featuring sports professionals from the pitch, from the boardroom and from behind the scenes of the sports industry, as well as cultural visits around each city and the opportunity to attend a live sporting event.
