GIS Miami: 2026 FIFA World Cup One Year Out

The Global Institute of Sport are excited to announce our next sports networking event on Tuesday, April 22nd, at Inter Miami’s Chase Stadium! We’ll be joined by guest speaker Janelle Prieto, Chief Marketing and Community Officer for the FIFA World Cup 2026 Host Committee.

Janelle Prieto is a powerhouse in sports marketing and communications, bringing over 16 years of experience across the U.S., Latin America, and Europe. With a deep passion for the game and a proven track record of elevating global sports brands, she has been at the forefront of building impactful campaigns, community-driven initiatives, and strategic marketing efforts that leave a lasting legacy.

As the Chief Marketing and Community Officer for the FIFA World Cup 26™ Miami Host Committee, Janelle is leading the charge in shaping the city’s World Cup narrative. She is spearheading marketing strategies and community engagement efforts to ensure Miami delivers an unforgettable World Cup experience that unites fans, ignites local pride, and amplifies the tournament’s global impact.

Before taking on this role, Janelle played a pivotal part in Concacaf’s evolution, where she led corporate communications, public relations, and social responsibility. She was the driving force behind Concacaf’s Bigger Game, a groundbreaking initiative designed to use football as a platform for positive social change across the Confederation’s 41 member associations.

Her expertise extends to the NFL as well, having served as Vice President of Communications, Marketing, and Community Partnerships for the Miami Super Bowl Host Committee. There, she launched the LIVE IT MIAMI™ campaign, featuring Pitbull, and drove strategic community initiatives such as Stop Sex Trafficking and Ocean to Everglades.

Janelle’s career also includes leading Diageo’s global Learning for Life™ program, empowering over 160,000+ at-risk youth, as well as driving high-profile philanthropic campaigns for the International Kid’s Fund at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

A proud Miami native and daughter of Cuban immigrants, Janelle continues to push the boundaries of sports marketing, blending passion with purpose to create meaningful, game-changing experiences for fans and communities alike.
