Application Guidance

We want to make applying to study with the Global Institute of Sport as simple as possible. Follow the steps below to start your journey into the sports industry.

Applying to study with the Global Institute of Sport is simple. Our online application form will guide you through each stage and you can save your progress and return to it at any time.

Step 1: Personal details

Start by entering your personal details, including your contact information. Please make sure these details are accurate, as we will use them to contact you about your application.

Step 2: Course selection

Choose the course you would like to apply for.

If you select a course delivered by one of our partners, you will be redirected to the partner website to complete your application. We will stay in touch throughout this process and can support you if you need any help. Please see the dropdowns below for further information relating to your specific campus.

Step 3: Qualifications

Tell us about your academic qualifications and any relevant professional experience. Entry requirements vary by course, so we recommend checking the course page before you apply.

Step 4: Evidence

Upload any supporting documents requested as part of your application. This may include qualification certificates, transcripts, a CV, or other evidence relevant to your chosen course.

Step 5: Further details

Provide any additional information required to support your application. This may include details about your background, experience, or reasons for wanting to study with GIS.

Step 6: Submit your application

Before submitting, review your application carefully to make sure all information is correct and all required documents have been included.

If you are applying for a course delivered at our Sydney, Miami, Toronto or Brussels Campus you will be redirected to the relevant partner’s application portal at this stage to complete your application.

Once submitted, our Admissions team will review your application and contact you about the next steps.

Before starting your application, there are a few things you should check.

1. Decide which course you want to apply for

Applications for all GIS courses begin using the online application form on our website.

You can initially apply for one course only. Once your application has been submitted, we would be happy to consider you for any additional courses you may be interested in.

If you are applying for a programme delivered with one of our partners, the application form may redirect you to complete your application through the partner website. Please check the drop-downs below for any specific information about applying through one of our partners.

2. Check the entry requirements

Entry requirements vary by programme, so please check the relevant course page before applying.

We welcome applications from candidates who do not meet our published entry requirements but have an otherwise strong personal profile. If you would like to discuss your profile before applying, please contact our Admissions team at admissions@gis.sport.

If you are planning to study a programme that requires attendance in a country different from your country of residence, please check the relevant visa requirements before applying.

Miami Campus degrees

When submitting your application you will need to supply the following documents. As part of the application process, we need:

  • A personal statement (preferably no fewer than 500 words) detailing your reasons for wanting to study your chosen course, information on your background and information on any relevant professional experience you may have.
  • Evidence of your highest completed qualifications – if you are still studying at present or awaiting your results then you can still apply and receive an offer without this.
  • For Coaching or Analysis applications, please provide as much evidence as possible of any additional qualifications, licenses or certificates you have achieved, e.g. PFSA, FA, UEFA badges
  • Copy of proof of English language level e.g. Academic IELTS certificate (if English is not your first language or if your previous academic course was not delivered in English)
  • A colour copy of your passport or an official, government issued ID document.

Although not required to submit an application, it can also be helpful if you provide a copy of your most recent CV as this can help give us a lot of insight into your personal and professional background. In cases where you are applying for a place based on your professional rather than academic profile, we will ask you to provide a copy of this as part of the application process.

Domestic Students

You are considered a Domestic student to our Sydney campus if you are an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa or New Zealand citizen.

 

All domestic applicants are required to evidence 100 points of ID, official copies of academic transcript(s), a detailed CV and official Statement(s) of Service. In instances where the applicant has completed their qualifications and/or professional experience in a non-English speaking country, they will be required to evidence their English Language Proficiency.

 

International Students

You will be required to provide the following evidence:

1.) Application form on GIS admissions website landing page 

  • English Proficiency Test Proof – IELTS test results / Medium of Instruction document attested from university  

 

2.)  Application form on VUB admissions website landing page  

  • English Proficiency Test Proof – IELTS test results / Medium of Instruction document attested from university  

 

3.) In case IELTS test needs to be given, then conditional offer will be generated till result is not sent to both GIS academics team via email and attached on the VUB application portal (This will be created when you apply for the course in step 2)  

 

4.) Medical certificate, which needs to be attested by the local council and embassy.  

  • Details of location can be found online depending on which city you are situated. This is a mandate to clear the candidate as medically fit to be able to travel and work in another country.  

 

5.) Police verification, which needs which needs to be attested by the local council and embassy.  

  • Details of location can be found online depending on which city you are situated.  This is a mandate to clear the candidate as having no previous criminal record and be able to travel and work in another country.  

 

5.) Arrangement of funds to show proof of fees + living expenses in Brussels. 

  • Different banks will sanction different amounts based on your financial conditions. 
  • To have your loan sanctioned, a document needs to be created showcasing a complete breakdown of expenses and tuition fees. Please see a sample attached. This document is what needs to be submitted to the bank for loan approval.  
  • In case self-funding student, then bank statements of guardian showcasing expenditure, and savings needs to be presented as the necessary documents. Again, the complete list can be found on the embassy website.

6.) Clearance of all above documents will take about 3-4 months’ time, which is ideal in case any potential hiccups/obstacles that need to be dealt with along the way. The biggest time-consuming process is approval of funds in case loan needs to be sanctioned from a bank.  

 

7.) VISA Interview Appointment - 2 set of interviews. First interview consists of document submission and verification and second interview consists of reasoning behind wanting to study in Brussels, where the candidate must demonstrate a clear pathway as to why they are seeking admission and what they shall be looking to achieve post their studies.  

 

8.) Passport Clearance and VISA Acceptance - Post both interviews, passport collection date shall be communicated, post which the candidate can collect their passport, and be eligible to leave the country at the date that has been stamped within their passport.  

To ensure that a place is held for you on your chosen course, you should accept your offer with us as soon as possible by emailing admissions@gis.sport. Firmly accepting your offer does not commit you to pay any fees and can be cancelled at any time up to the start of the programme.

If you are holding a Conditional Offer, meaning you have yet to satisfy all admissions criteria and we are waiting for you to submit further documentation to evidence your eligibility, please send us the requested evidence as soon as you can. If you are unsure of your conditions, please contact us on admissions@gis.sport for more information.

Once your conditions have been met you will be issued with an unconditional offer and will be invited to enrol onto your course once the course enrolment process opens (typically 6-8 weeks prior to the start of the programme.
