GIS partner Mount Pleasant FA wins historic first Concacaf Caribbean Cup trophy

Global Institute of Sport extends a huge congratulations to our partner, Mount Pleasant Football Academy, on claiming their first-ever CONCACAF Caribbean Cup trophy after a dramatic 3–2 aggregate victory over Universidad O&M FC.

In a fiercely contested final that saw Mount Pleasant come from behind twice, Reggae Boyz international Tyreek Magee delivered the decisive moment with a dramatic 87th-minute equaliser to secure a 2–2 draw on the night and the historic aggregate win. Earlier, fellow Jamaican international Warner Brown struck to level the match at 1–1.

The victory also sees Mount Pleasant FA qualify for the CONCACAF Champions Cup Round of 16 in 2026, where they could face elite opposition from Major League Soccer and Liga MX.

The long-term partnership between Global Institute of Sport and Mount Pleasant FA continues to provide students with the opportunity to apply their university learning in real time within a world-class professional football academy environment in Jamaica. We are proud to have supported the club’s success through scouting, performance analysis and coaching, business and media elements of the club, with numerous GIS students spending time at our Live Lab in Jamaica working closely alongside the players and staff over the past 12 months.

She added that “GIS is proud to have played a small role in the success of Mount Pleasant and looks forward to continuing to support the club while championing the growth of Caribbean football.”
