POST OBJECTIVES:
Deliver and manage the BA (Hons) Management course and assoicated modules, alongside deliver across postgraduate modules courses. Complete relevant administrative tasks including quality assurance documents relating to student feedback, moderation of assessments, and participation of Assessment Boards as required by GIS’ awarding bodies. Assist the Deputy Dean of the School to support staff teaching on the UG and PG courses. To support the academic provision at overseas partnerships linked to GIS courses.
KEY TASKS:
- Lead the design, development, and ongoing review of the university course
curriculum to ensure academic quality and industry relevance.
- Coordinate teaching delivery across modules, including managing lecturers,
timetables, assessments, and student progression.
- Monitor student performance, attendance, and feedback to improve the overall
learning experience and course outcomes.
- Ensure the course meets university regulations, accreditation standards, and
quality assurance requirements.
- Act as the main point of contact for students, academic staff, and external
stakeholders regarding course-related matters.
- Oversee recruitment, admissions, and marketing activities to help attract and
retain students on the programme.
- Maintain links with industry partners and professional bodies to enhance
employability opportunities and curriculum relevance
- To teach on designated modules and courses of study as defined by the Dean of
School, including contributing to the academic delivery of online courses.
- Maintain academic standards and adhere to the course and module specifications.
- Design and deliver teaching materials at undergraduate and postgraduate levels,
including contributing to the curriculum review and enhancement, in a manner
that supports and focuses on student learning outcomes.
– Preparation and delivery of lecture and seminar materials across various
levels of study.
– Challenge thinking and foster debate to develop the ability for students to
engage in critical discourse and rational thinking, stimulating excellence.
– Identify the learning needs of students and define appropriate learning
objectives. Supervise the work of students- including student projects, field
trips, and where appropriate, placement- and provide advice on study skills.
– Integrate innovative teaching methods, technology, and real-world
applications into the curriculum to maintain student engagement and to
provide opportunities to assess understanding.
– Track students’ engagement and feedback to the Course Leader. Maintain
accurate records of student progress.
- Undertake student assessments and examination activities including the provision
of appropriate feedback to students.
– Marking, assessing and internal verification of students’ work.
– Liaise with colleagues and External Examiners to identify and embed best
practice within academic delivery
- Engage in continuous professional development.
– Develop familiarity with a variety of strategies to promote and assess
learning.
– Have an in-depth understanding of your own specialism to enable the
development of new knowledge and understanding within the field.
– Participate in research and personal professional development
- To participate in the department seminars aimed at knowledge sharing and
building interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside the department.
– Act as a responsible team member and develop productive working
relationships with other members of staff.
– Participate in and develop external networks that promote GIS and
contribute to and build relationships for future activities.
– Collaborate with colleagues on the development and implementation of
assessment procedures.
- Be responsible for the pastoral care of students within a specified area.
– Act as a personal tutor, providing first-line support.
– Refer students to appropriate services providing further help (student
services).
- Achieve set academic key performance indicators concerning attendance,
retention, and achievement.
- Work with support staff and module leaders to maintain high levels of student
satisfaction rates.
- Contribute to the preparation of annual review and evaluation reports in line with
institutional and validating partner reporting requirements, implementing
module action plans as required in response to student feedback and outcomes.
- To undertake appropriate staff development and professional training in line with
the business objectives of GIS, including attendance of all academic briefings
- To work within the policies of Health and Safety and Equal Opportunities.

level of the post
