During the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Thomas Tuchel’s England are based out in Kansas City as they prepare for their tournament to begin.
Their real home of course, is back at St George’s Park, where The Powerhouse Project and Nike recently teamed up to hold an event for over 300 women and girls to coach and play at England’s training ground.
One of 25 Powerhouse Project alumni who made the event happen was Lily Allison-Edwards, a MSc International Sport Management student with GIS who spoke to us about how the event went.
“It was really refreshing,” she told us. “I’ve never been involved in anything like it and, for the girls attending, it’s a great representation of the opportunities in women’s sport that are out there.”
Over the two-day event, Lily provided vital support to make sure the event ran as smoothly as possible, which included registering players on their arrival and managing their needs throughout the day.
Having also attended our signature Miami Global Summit, Lily’s background is in on the pitch where she currently works as a Foundation Phase Development Coach at Notts County. Safe to say, this event offered a new dimension to her professional development.
“All I’ve ever done is coach, so it was good to get different experience and skills to take into my career.”
“The highlight of my time there was listening to the special guests,” she continued. “We heard the stories of Georgia Mullett and Fara Williams, about their journeys and where they started.”
Hearing from professionals such as Mullett and Williams was part of a wider experience that saw attendees take part in coach education workshops and player skill sessions, with Lily finally commenting on the importance of such initiatives.
“Everyone involved was a role model to youth in sport, who help bridge the gap between females and football through opportunities like this.”
