Working at a FIFA World Cup is an dream for many football fans.
This summer, GIS student Kevin Arsenault turned that dream into reality, taking on a role in Miami throughout the tournament.
Working from the Hard Rock Stadium, Kevin plays a key part in delivering the matchday for supporters as a Guest Experience Representative, an opportunity he described to GIS as “surreal”.
“I can’t fully express how grateful I am to be part of something so special and to be able to call it my job,” he said. “Contributing to a tournament that brings the world together gives me a real sense of purpose and motivation to continue building my career in the sports industry.”
Since beginning his MSc Football Business programme with GIS in 2025 as a part-time student, Kevin has continued to build his industry experience through roles including Academy Operations Intern at Miami FC, while also attending the GIS Global Sports Summit at our Miami campus.
On the summits, students are provided with behind-the-scenes insight at world class venues, tickets to live sport, and networking sessions with industry leaders. Many of these are held in the Inter Miami Stadium, where Kevin has also worked as a Guest Services Representative since February.
Between this role and his position at the Hard Rock Stadium, Kevin has supported sporting events at the highest level, including the Miami Grand Prix, the Miami Open, and now, the FIFA World Cup.
“As a lifelong football fan, this really is a dream come true, and experiencing the World Cup alongside them has been truly memorable,” he said, having recently witnessed Argentina’s dramatic Round of 32 victory over Cabo Verde. In a role that spans every FIFA World Cup fixture staged in Miami, Kevin now has invaluable experience at one of the biggest sporting events in the world.
“I’m writing this as I sit at home after watching England defeat Mexico to advance to the next round,” he concluded. “Now, knowing their confirmed matchup in Miami against Norway on July 11th, I honestly can’t wait to clock in again!”
