We are excited to announce that five new scholars have joined us for the start of 2025, each receiving a scholarship to support their journey in the sports industry.
All of these students enrolled in our MSc International Sports Management programme in January 2025, with each receiving a scholarship to help them kick-start their careers in sports.
Marlo Sweatman was the first of our new scholars, having been awarded the Elite Athlete Scholarship. This is given to those who have competed at an elite level in any sport, and is designed to help them transition their athletic experience into a successful career in the sports industry, away from competition.
As part of the scholarship, Marlo will receive a 50% tuition fee reduction, exclusive GIS sports kit, and dedicated mentorship from Jason Roberts, former Blackburn Rovers footballer and the current Director of Development at CONCACAF.
Natasha Hudson is another one of our scholars, and she received the Women in Sport Scholarship which is dedicated to empowering exceptional female candidates who aspire to become leaders in the sports industry. This, like all of our scholarships, also comes with an industry-leading mentor, and Natasha will be mentored by our very own President and CEO, Sharona Friedman!
Another recipient of this scholarship is Oatile Mampuru, a football and netball coach in South Africa. As part of the scholarship, recipients receive a 15% reduction in their tuition fees, as well as complimentary access to a GIS Global Sports Summit.
As part of our Beyond the Game Scholarship, we would also like to welcome Gilles Cincinatis, who completed his degree in Sports Psychology with UCFB in 2023.
This scholarship, in partnership with The Player, provides a unique opportunity for aspiring sports leaders to gain hands-on experience in the UAE sports industry. Receiving a 25% tuition discount, Gilles will get a tailored placement within a professional UAE football club, alongside mentorship from Sam White, co-founder of The Player.
Finally, we have Paul Walker joining GIS as part of our Global Leadership Scholarship. Currently working in Dubai, Paul displayed the commitment, leadership potential, and global perspective needed to be successful in his application, which will now see him receive a 15% tuition discount as well as expert mentorship.
