To celebrate half a century of one of football’s most prestigious award ceremonies, the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) is launching a new book, titled 50 Years of the PFA Awards.
UCFB and its Global Institute of Sport are proud to contribute to the publication, which will be launched at this year’s glittering PFA Awards ceremony on Tuesday 29 August at the Lowry Theatre in Manchester.
Speaking ahead of the launch, GIS President Sharona Friedman said: “One of our aims at UCFB and GIS is to help players in their transition from being a professional on the pitch, to leading a successful career off the pitch, and our partners at the PFA have led the way in this important area over the past 50 years.
“The PFA and UCFB share the common ambition to support players both during and after their playing career, so to tell the UCFB story in such an illustrious publication is a proud moment for us.”
This beautifully presented hardback book has been produced in partnership with leading publisher St James’s House and written by two-time winner of the British Sports Journalist of the Year award, Harry Harris.
Charting the evolution of the beautiful game over the past five decades, the book includes exclusive interviews with some of the greatest names in the sport, past and present, and highlights the continued, wide-ranging impact of the PFA’s work.
