This is an immersive, real-time opportunity to apply your university degree in a world-class football academy, working alongside some of the Caribbean's most promising young talents.
GIS has forged a revolutionary long-term partnership with Mount Pleasant Football Academy, the academy of the former Jamaica Premier League champions and the premier centre of football excellence in the Caribbean. This collaboration brings cutting-edge global practices in football performance analysis directly to Jamaica, setting a new standard for the region.
A lucky group of GIS students will be handpicked for a fully-funded, multi-week internship at Mount Pleasant. As part of the ‘Live Lab’ experience, you'll play a pivotal role in all aspects of coaching, performance, and academy business development. From working with under-15 squads to supporting the senior men’s team competing in the Jamaican Premier League and CONCACAF, your impact will be felt across the entire club.
Accommodation will be provided through Mount Pleasant Football Academy and students will be shown around the island with plenty of free time available to explore this idyllic island.
As a GIS Live Lab intern, you'll be at the forefront of football innovation at Mount Pleasant, contributing in areas such as:
- Performance Analysis: Utilize top-tier software like Hudl, Playermaker, and In Play to analyze and code training sessions, delivering personalized insights on player performance.
- Player Analytics: Provide detailed statistics on key metrics such as sprints, passes, shots, and dribbles, helping players refine their skills.
- Opponent Analysis: Use Wyscout to break down the strengths and weaknesses of competitors, aiding in strategic planning.
- Scouting: Assist in identifying talent for both academy teams and the men’s first team.
- Coaching Support: Collaborate with coaches during training sessions, offering hands-on support across all levels of the academy.
- Media & Content Creation: Generate engaging content for Mount Pleasant’s media platforms, including match reports and promotional materials to boost the academy’s profile.
Your assignments and coursework will be directly aligned with your hands-on experiences at Mount Pleasant, ensuring that every project you undertake is grounded in the realities of professional football.
This multi-week Live Lab internship opportunity in Jamaica is open to students studying any GIS program, either online or on-campus.
