As International Women’s Day approaches, the Global Institute of Sport (GIS) is proudly celebrating the achievements and empowering the future of women in the sports industry. With a commitment to breaking barriers, GIS is providing exceptional opportunities for female students and alumni to thrive in this traditionally male-dominated field. Over the past 18 months, we have doubled the number of female students, who now represent over 30% of our student cohort—and that number is rapidly growing.

Driving Momentum in Women’s Football: Highlights from GIS Brussels

On Monday, 3rd March, GIS hosted a dynamic event at Lotto Park, focusing on accelerating progress in the global women’s football industry. Attendees engaged in powerful discussions, gained expert insights, and connected with industry leaders who are shaping the future of the game.

The event featured an impressive lineup of speakers, including:

At GIS, we take pride in the achievements of our female students and alumni who are making waves in the sports world. Here are just a few of the inspiring women breaking barriers and shaping the future:

  • Maria Hasler – Senior Commercial Rights Manager at Arsenal FC, Maria plays a pivotal role in driving commercial success at one of the world’s most iconic football clubs.
  • Christine Coppin – A current GIS Master’s student, Christine is also the Senior Women’s Assistant Coach at South Melbourne Football Club, contributing to the growth of women’s football in Australia.
  • Millie Chandarana – Nottingham Forest Women’s footballer and co-host of The Kicking Back Podcast, Millie engages audiences and shares her experiences in women’s football.
  • Sian Hillis – GIS Master’s student and Women’s Academy Coach at Arsenal FC, Sian is also a Community Champion (Women & Girls) at the FA and a Football Development Officer at Essex County FA.
  • Victoria Yarnold – Football Coach at Villarreal CF, Victoria is contributing to the growth of football in Spain while coaching future talent.
