Having recently started her studies at the Global Institute of Sport (GIS), April Mor gained experience behind the scenes of the football industry through an internship at the 2026 World Football Summit (WFS) in Madrid.
In July, GIS announced its landmark partnership with W`FS.
Hosting conferences that connect thousands of professionals across the industry, WFS held its 10th anniversary summit in Madrid in September, with attendees from over 75 countries hearing from 147 leading speakers.

Through the partnership, April joined the event staff, supporting guest speakers and brand activations throughout the two-day conference.
Stemming from the partnership, the WFS event was supported by GIS student April Mor who interned as part of the Event Staff.
The internship gave the BA Sports Management student an opportunity to build her CV and gain practical experience early in her studies.
“It was a really great experience,” April told GIS. “Being there gave me the opportunity to see the football industry from behind the scenes, meet people working across different areas of the industry and get a real sense of the environment I’d love to be part of in the future.”
Bringing together industry leaders to discuss football’s future, the summit featured talks and panel discussions covering a wide range of topics, including governance, AI, fan engagement, and sustainability.

High-profile speakers included Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, London City Lionesses owner Michele Kang, and La Liga President Javier Tebas.
“As I’m starting my Sport Management studies at GIS,” April continued, “it was especially exciting to have this experience so early on and to see how much there is to learn and explore within the sports industry. I’m really looking forward to continuing to learn, gain experience and take the next step in my journey.”
Events like these offer students and professionals the perfect opportunity to expand their network and keep up to date with current industry practices. A range of multinational corporations were in attendance, including Adidas, Google, DAZN, and J.P. Morgan, while football institutions such as FIFA, The FA, and UEFA were also represented.
Alongside internships at the event itself, GIS later announced longer-term placements with WFS, #giving students further opportunities to gain experience within the football industry.
