Global Institute of Sport (GIS) and Women in Soccer (WIS) are excited to announce a new scholarship opportunity for WIS members to study an online master’s degree in Football Business from September 2025. This year, there are two opportunities for WIS members to gain a 50% tuition scholarship to GIS’ MSc Football Business program. Each scholarship will also include the cost of the GIS Global Summit Miami ticket.
This scholarship is aimed at outstanding applicants who exhibit leadership traits in their current setting and the potential for leadership development in the football industry, and encourages students to embrace their time at GIS and graduate with much more than a university degree. The scholarship will cover 50% of the successful applicant’s tuition fees in full for the MSc Football Business.
Speaking about the scholarship, Cat Garrido, Regional Director – Americas at GIS, said: “We are delighted to continue our partnership with Women in Soccer to provide this unprecedented opportunity for two WIS members to receive 50% tuition fee scholarships for our online master’s degree in Football Business. At GIS we are dedicated to providing pathways into an exciting career in soccer through access to our industry-focused degrees.”
Grace Ahrens, Executive Director at WIS, commented: “Women in Soccer (WIS) is a national network that connects women and people with underrepresented gender identities to careers in soccer. We’re excited to continue our partnership with the Global Institute of Sport to offer two WIS members the opportunity to win a significant tuition scholarship to GIS’s MSc Football Business program. The program offers aspiring professionals the chance to excel in the soccer industry after receiving a world-class executive education from some of the game’s most experienced business leaders. These scholarships will be career-defining for two of our WIS members, and we’re inspired to work with GIS to enhance diversity in the soccer industry.”
On obtaining the scholarship last year, Sulema Felix, WIS member and Angel City Senior Manager of Community Outreach, said:
“In the world of soccer, I’ve seen the impact of my work locally, on the fields, in the neighborhoods, and with the people I show up for. But the WIS x GIS scholarship is allowing me to scale that impact, share my experiences and background on a global level, and be part of conversations I was rarely invited into. Women in Soccer made it clear that my story doesn’t just matter, it demands attention. Now’s the chance to tell yours. You never know who’s looking to your journey as the reason they believe they belong too.”
