Global Institute of Sport Partners with The Powerhouse Project to Empower the Next Generation of Women in Sport

The Global Institute of Sport (GIS) is proud to announce a new partnership with Mollie and Rosie Kmita, co-founders of the Powerhouse Project, to deliver a ground-breaking education pathway designed to fast-track women into leadership roles across the global sports industry.

Together, GIS and The Powerhouse Project have developed the Powerhouse Pathway, a first of its kind initiative built around the online BA (Hons) Sports Management university degree delivered by GIS. This enhanced programme combines world-class academic delivery with mentorship, professional development, and leadership training, crafted especially for women pursuing careers in sport.

Launching in January 2026, the Powerhouse Pathway enables students to complete their degree in just 2.5 years whilst immersing themselves in the best of the Powerhouse Project’s sports network and development activities. Successful applicants will be supported on an accelerated journey that aims to prepare them for leadership positions within clubs, governing bodies, agencies, and global sports organisations.

At the heart of the programme is a shared mission to close the gender gap in sport and empower women with the tools, confidence, and network to thrive. Students will benefit from:

  • Access to a powerful female network within the sports industry
  • Online webinars led by industry professionals
  • Exclusive events and opportunities to connect and empower future leaders
  • A specialised curriculum focused on marketing, management, and governance

“The Powerhouse Pathway represents more than a degree, it’s a launchpad for women to lead and influence the future of sport,” said Mollie Kmita. “It’s designed to give women the confidence, skills, and mentorship they need to thrive in sports leadership.”

“This programme embodies everything we stand for at The Powerhouse Project,” added Rosie Kmita. “It supports women academically, personally, and professionally, helping them excel in a competitive industry and build lasting professional connections.”

“The Powerhouse Pathway brings our mission to life by equipping women with the skills, confidence, and support they need to excel as future leaders in sport,” said Sharona Friedman, President & CEO of Global Institute of Sport. “This programme reflects our EPICC values, Entrepreneurship, Partnership, Impact, Curiosity, and Courage, and demonstrates the impact women can make in the global sports industry.”

To mark the launch of this pioneering initiative, GIS and The Powerhouse Project will host the GIS x Powerhouse Project Sports Business Pathway Launch Event at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday 10th December.

The event will feature Mollie and Rosie Kmita, alongside leading figures from the sports industry, celebrating the launch and discussing the importance of creating opportunities for women in sport. Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn more about the Powerhouse Sports Business Pathway, meet industry professionals, and network with students and alumni. Register here to attend the launch event.

Applications are now open for the Powerhouse Pathway, with enrolment beginning in late January 2026. Prospective students can apply now to join this transformative programme. Applications close on 12 January 2026.
