A Global Institute of Sport student has been speaking about how pleased he is with how his postgraduate degree is helping him progress in the sports industry.

Tobias van Deijck currently studies MSc Football Business at the GIS Miami Campus, and will be a local ambassador at the upcoming 2024 GIS Miami Global Sports Summit.

With an undergraduate degree in Entrepreneurial Studies, Tobias decided to focus his future career on the sports industry.

He said: “I started my GIS Master’s degree in September 2023 because I wanted to expand my network in the football industry and further my education with the intriguing modules that GIS presents led by world-renowned industry experts.

In only a few months so far at GIS, he has been named as the student representative for his degree and has been given plenty of industry experience.

This has included volunteering at the recent 2023 Soccerex Miami Conference, where Tobias was able to network with sport industry executives from across the globe.

He added: “Within only three months of being in the program, GIS helped me land my first job within the industry and has given me the opportunity to attend events that would otherwise be unimaginable.

“One thing I have thoroughly enjoyed so far has been the connections I have made with the staff and other students within GIS.

“My lecturers and supporting staff have been nothing but helpful in preparing me to be competitive in this industry, further elevating my education, and introducing me to influential people in the industry.

The education and networking that GIS offers is unique and unmatched to any other institution I have researched or experienced.

I would recommend GIS to anyone whether you are starting to take your first steps in the sport industry or are further on in your career to help give you an edge to get you were you want to be.”
