GIS Marketing and Media Graduates: Where Are They Now?

GIS Marketing and Media Graduates: Where Are They Now?

When we asked Shana Doyle-Axcell her favourite part of teaching at GIS, her response was simply: “Seeing my students succeed.”

To showcase some of these journeys, this alumni round-up explores the careers of three GIS graduates working across marketing and media, highlighting the different pathways and opportunities available to future students looking to build a career in sport.

Maria Hasler

Current Organisation: Always Human, SuperleagueLDN

Previous Experience: Arsenal FC, Nike, DAZN

A former MSc Football Communications & Digital Marketing student at GIS, Maria Hasler has built an impressive career spanning elite sport, global brands, and grassroots football, working across marketing, commercial partnerships, and player rights.

While completing her studies, which she began in 2020, Maria balanced her degree with her role as Head of Partnerships at Bloomsbury Football.

Combined with a series of internships and previous industry experience, this laid the foundations for her next major role in professional sport, joining DAZN’s marketing team after graduating from GIS with a distinction.

Maria then held commercial and marketing roles with Nike before joining Arsenal FC as Senior Commercial Rights Manager, where she led the club’s image rights programme, working closely with players and commercial partners across various campaigns.

Now based in Sydney, Maria works in Athlete & Partnerships at Always Human, having joined the organisation in May 2026.

She is also the Founder and Chairwoman of SuperleagueLDN, a collaboration between Nike and Bloomsbury Football that provides more opportunities for young girls to play football.

Liberty Schofield

Current Organisation: Brentford FC

Previous Experience: Ancient + Brave, Brighton and Hove Albion FC

International Marketing Executive at Brentford FC, Liberty Schofield discovered that working in football marketing involves far more than creating social media posts.

“Much more strategic than I originally thought!” was how she described the reality of marketing roles, where every campaign is shaped by careful planning, collaboration, and an understanding of supporters across the globe.

After graduating from GIS with a distinction, Liberty joined The Bees in October 2025. Since then, she has travelled internationally as part of her role, helping deliver the club’s marketing activity beyond the UK while gaining first-hand experience of the global nature of modern football.

Reflecting on her career so far, Liberty also shared the key lesson she believes every aspiring sports professional should learn.

“One of the most important parts is teamwork. Working in a team is a huge part of the role—for example, brainstorming sessions shape the marketing strategy and content that we push out in communications.”

Molly Glinn

Current Organisations: BAFTA, WSL Football

Previous Experience: The Sporting News

After gaining experience as a freelancer in film production, Molly Glinn made the transition into expanded her career into sports media, bringing her storytelling skills to one of football’s biggest international tournaments.

Molly now combines her role as Television Craft Awards Manager at BAFTA, which she began in November 2025, with freelance writing for WSL Football, which she started in July 2026. Her work spans entertainment and sport, building on her experience across film, television and events.

While studying at GIS, Molly secured an internship with The Sporting News—the US’ oldest sports publication—travelling to Switzerland to cover UEFA Women’s Euro 2025.

Reporting from across the tournament, she produced countless articles while also creating her own original series, Remember Her Name, which highlighted some of the competition’s emerging stars.

Reflecting on the experience, Molly described covering the Women’s Euros as “a privilege”, and saw the freedom she was given to develop her own ideas as a highlight.

Looking back on her biggest takeaway, she encouraged aspiring sports media professionals to be creative.

“Always have a fresh perspective or idea that you can bring to the table. My Remember Her Name series with The Sporting News was a perspective not taken by them or any other similar outlet before, making it a unique selling point for TSN’s coverage of the tournament.”

She also advised students to take full advantage of any opportunity they get.

“If you’d like to meet certain people, write about certain things, or find out about different areas of the organisation they’re working with, just ask!

“Put as much emphasis on pushing yourself to get what you want out of the placement as you would on meeting the employer’s needs.”
